Ethical Living Through Stories
The Institute of Ismaili Studies recently created two non-specialist series. Unlike their monographs and edited volumes, these books need to reach a wider lay-audience and therefore need an entirely different approach to marketing.
For their publication Ethical Living Through Stories: Encounters with Adab, I created multimodal marketing collateral that can appeal to a diverse audience.
TV Slides
Ismaili jamatkhanas often have TV screens in which the post announcements. I created two assets for these screens:
Showcases the film adaptations of stories referenced in the book to grab the audience’s attention:
Connects the publication to IIS’ ta’lim materials to encourage parents to read the text while fulfilling the Department of Education’s marketing goals.
Informational printouts
In many cases, Ismaili customers of IIS publications don’t know what to expect from the books themselves. Based on conversations that I’ve had with Ismailis, religious education teachers, and librarians, I created informational sheets to help build understanding (and interest) in this new book.

Video marketing
I wrote the questions for an author interview and, after it was filmed, edited two clips to share on social media.
Notice the end card; one of my favourite parts of creating these videos is finding a way to recreate the cover art through animation.
Reading for all ages
This publication was also included in the Reading for all ages initiative that I started at IIS. Click the button below to learn more.
